Dental Crowns & Bridges in Ipswich

Dental crowns cap damaged or weakened teeth, restoring their strength, shape and appearance. We specialise in biomimetic crowns (bio-crowns), a conservative approach that preserves healthy tooth structure. Bridges replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring to neighbouring teeth. We use high-quality, tooth-coloured materials for durable, natural-looking results.

About Crowns & Bridges

Crowns and bridges are trusted restorative treatments that repair damaged teeth and fill gaps left by missing ones. At Grange Road Dental, we use high-quality, tooth-coloured materials so your restoration blends naturally with your smile.

A dental crown is important when a tooth has a large filling, cracks or needs extra support and protection. At Grange Road Dental, we use a technique called biomimetic crowns (commonly referred to as bio-crowns). Rather than removing healthy tooth structure to fit a traditional cap, bio-crowns conserve all the good existing structure and recreate the strength the tooth had before it was ever filled. This conservative approach aims to give the tooth longevity while preserving as much natural tooth as possible. Both of our dentists, Dr Andrew Zischke and Dr James Yang, have completed training in biomimetic dentistry, so this option is available whichever dentist you see.

To replace missing teeth, you have several options. Traditional dental bridges anchor an artificial tooth to the healthy teeth on either side of the gap. Single dental implants replace a tooth without involving the adjacent teeth, which is where their advantage lies. For front teeth in particular, we can sometimes use a conservative two-unit bridge that bonds in without extensive preparation. We will help you understand which approach suits your situation.

The process for crowns and bridges typically involves two visits. At your first appointment, we prepare the teeth and take impressions for your custom restoration. A temporary restoration protects your teeth while the permanent one is crafted. At your second visit, we fit the final restoration, checking your bite and comfort. With proper care, crowns and bridges can last many years.

I don't do reviews but I had to for everyone here. I have a fear of dentists, none of the staff knew that but the receptionist clocked it, she engaged with me and tried to elevate my fear, she expressed to the team I was very apprehensive and nervous. The team listened and everyone who was involved with my care went above and beyond. Everything was explained to me and I was given time, there was never any rush. On the day of my [...], which I had so much anxiety about, the receptionist remembered me, the team knew I was scared and they all made my experience calm and amazing. They walked me through what was happening and let me know it was OK to tell them at any point If I felt uncomfortable. As a person that is truly petrified of dentists, I can not thank this team enough.

Crowns & Bridges FAQs

What is a biomimetic crown (bio-crown)?

A biomimetic crown (bio-crown for short) conserves all the good existing healthy tooth structure rather than removing it to fit a traditional cap. It recreates the strength the tooth had before it was ever filled, offering a more conservative and long-lasting approach to protecting damaged teeth.

How do I choose between a bridge and an implant?

A bridge anchors to neighbouring teeth, while an implant replaces a single tooth without involving adjacent teeth. For front teeth, a conservative two-unit bridge can be another option. At Grange Road Dental, we discuss the advantages of each approach during your consultation so you can make an informed choice.

How long do crowns and bridges last?

With proper care, dental crowns and bridges can last many years. Factors like your oral hygiene, diet and bite all play a role. We provide guidance on how to care for your restoration to maximise its lifespan.

Is the crown or bridge process uncomfortable?

We use local anaesthetic to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure. Most patients report little to no discomfort. The preparation appointment and the fitting appointment are each typically completed within an hour.

Will my crown or bridge look natural?

Yes. We use high-quality, tooth-coloured ceramic and porcelain materials that are matched to your natural teeth. The result blends seamlessly with the rest of your smile.
